Who We Are

What started in 1982 as a simple family-owned business packing and distributing avocados out of a modest facility in Fallbrook, California has been cultivated into a highly respected world leader in the produce industry. Through strong relationships with local growers, West Pak founders Galen Newhouse and Randy Shoup purchased fruit from California farmers and supplied top quality product to regional customers. They built a solid reputation on a handshake and by delivering on their promise – every time.

At West Pak, we are dedicated to our employees, year-round! From Murrieta to Michoacán, there is much to be celebrated annually. Our human resources department hosts monthly events focused around holidays, seasons, birthdays, and so much more. At West Pak, there is always a reason to embrace the day.

At West Pak, part of our community efforts are organized by our thoughtful team! The West Pak Cares Committee is a group of employees volunteering their time to help organize events and provide different ways to integrate health & wellness into employees lives as well as incorporate community outreach. Here’s a look at all the ways West Pak gives back!

The West Pak Cares program offers onsite health & wellness events for employees. Some of the events for 2017 included:

Employee Safety

Safety for employees, vendors and guests is paramount at West Pak. Our policy is to provide a safe work environment for all our employees and to continually strive to reduce work-related accidents and injuries. Through our safety programs, our goal is to enhance safety consciousness of all employees.

Occupational and Safety Hazard Association (OSHA) standards are applied at all facilities.

IIPP Program

The Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) is firmly committed to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. West Pak has implemented a comprehensive program designed to foster the participation of all employees to prevent workplace accidents, injuries, and illnesses. The primary purpose of the program is to ensure the safety and health of WPA workers and provide a safe and healthy work environment.

HazCom program

WPA has prepared and implemented a written hazard communication program, which ensures that all containers are labeled, employees are provided access to SDSs, and an effective training program is conducted for all potentially exposed employees.
